Dr. Mark Reichman is one of the most revered oral and maxillofacial surgeons in Vancouver. He holds the distinction of being the only active surgeon in the cleft lip and palate/craniofacial program at British Columbia’s Children’s and Women’s Hospital, and he primarily performs surgeries that correct children’s facial deformities and syndromes. He has over 20 years of experience and is a member of multiple prestigious industry organizations, including the British Columbia Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (which he previously led as president), the Canadian Dental Association, and the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia.
Mark received a doctorate in dental surgery in 1989. He interned at the Toronto General Hospital and then traveled to Dallas for a four-year residency at Southwestern Medical School in Parkland Hospital. Then he returned to Vancouver, where he has worked for two decades and distinguished himself as a leader in oral surgery.
Mark also spent eighteen years as an assistant clinical professor in the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of British Columbia. He is passionate about education and has collaborated on case reports in order to further awareness and understanding of atypical dental issues in young children. He most recently contributed to a report published by the Canadian Dental Association which examined a rare dental case involving a seven-month-old boy. The full report is available in the Journal of the Canadian Dental Association, a peer-reviewed publication.
Because Mark works with all age groups, including infants, he has unmatched patience and a natural ability to educate people and alleviate their stress. He understands that everyone handles surgeries differently, so he takes a personal interest in each case and directly works with patients (and their parents) to ensure that they understand his procedures. Mark cares about his patients beyond the completion of surgery; he periodically checks in on their progress and also shares free tips online. He is all about clear and helpful communication with each of his patients. His transparency and willingness to go the extra mile have helped him become the highest-rated oral surgeon in Vancouver.
Mark has received praise from his patients– many of whom have relied on him for decades– and industry experts alike. He continues to research and perform life-changing reconstructive and orthognathic surgeries, and works both out of his private practice and on-site in British Columbia’s Children’s and Women’s Hospital. He and his staff offer diverse surgical procedures, such as cosmetic surgery, wisdom tooth removal, implants, and bone grafts. Mark prides himself on being a surgeon that patients can turn to for difficult issues.
In addition to his devotion to dentistry and maxillofacial surgery, Mark is a volunteer at the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
The following testimonies show Mark’s wide variety of clients:
“I recently took my 82 year old mother to see Dr. Reichman. He was so good with her. She was quite nervous and he took the time to answer all her questions and set her mind at ease. She is the 5th member of the family to be treated by Dr. R. over the last 13 years, from my son when he was 9 to my daughter getting her wisdom teeth out at 20.
Dr. Reichman has always been friendly, courteous and very professional. His staff were great too. They obviously really care about their patients. I’ve recommended him to so many relatives and friends over the years and will continue to do so. I know I’m going to have to get implants in the next year or two and will be heading back to Dr. Reichman again, knowing I’m in good hands.“
“I had four impacted wisdom teeth that needed removing. Needless to say I was quite nervous upon arrival to the clinic but the helpful staff put me right at ease. Once inside the room, the surgical team answered every single one of my questions and then got right to work. The recovery has been very smooth and the pain minimal. I would definitely recommend Dr. Reichman to anyone. I was very pleased with the service.”
“Dr. Reichman did my daughter’s bone graft surgery. He was extremely caring and considerate towards her. He took the time to answer all questions and we never felt rushed in any way. He made very unpleasant surgery go as pleasantly as it gets!”
